Perhaps because of growing up in a large family with no room for clutter, I came to appreciate things that were both functional and beautiful. I enjoy experimenting with classical forms and color, adding a whimsical twist. A long background in the fine and graphic arts, including 15 years of sign painting, developed brush and layout abilities; but it was when I took my first pottery class in the early 90s to that my direction in art radically changed. I am especially drawn to majolica with its bright colors and enduring elegance; and, as it turns out, it's a pretty good match for someone who likes to paint! I work alone to preserve the sense of flow from beginning to end in the work, and because new ideas are often born in the quiet and solitude.

J. Davis Studios
J. Davis Studios
A product of the Chihuahuan Desert in far west Texas, John Davis is widely known for his one-of-a-kind construction techniques. Inspired by the desert's rugged terrain, subtle colors, and remarkable beauty, John's work reflects the incredible hues of the mountain sunsets, the diverse vegetation, and the variability of this untamed region. John's virtuosity ranges from the elegant to the playful as he expresses himself through the medium of clay and color, and his "artisan concretization" keeps him in touch with reality as he harmonizes color, line, texture, and shading.

"My desire to create things began at a very young age. I have vivid memories of sitting on a small stool in my dad's workshop saying 'dad let's make something' and an elaborate plan would follow. Landscape Architecture and Fine Art, with a focus in printmaking, were my educational focuses, but my creative palette has expanded to include many mediums, ceramics and found objects being my favorites. I find the incorporation of prints, ceramic bits and found objects into one piece very satisfying, as it provides me a synergy of creative processes. My thoughts and emotions are expressed best with symbolic, minimal gestures. Creating art helps connect me to my surroundings and the environment, organic expressions and shapes, crooked and twisting as a landscape, evolving over time into their finished forms."
Cindy Weller
Cindy Weller
Cindy Weller makes a broad range of uniquely designed and stylish wear that emphasizes floral and natural designs that are as elegant as they are intricate. She developed her passion for pottery at a young age watching her mother create china dolls. In college she studied different forms of sculpture from wood to ceramic to painting and photography, taking from each medium a desire to push the limits of the craft.
