A favorite hobby since childhood for Stacy Kirkpatrick, basic beading has developed into a passion for creating unusual pieces that catch the eye. Her jewelry designs are simple yet striking, from big and bold to small and delicate. Creative elements include natural and semi-precious stones, pearl, coral, crystal, and glass. Stacy is inspired by color and texture – and things that are different from everything else. “If something simply blends into its surroundings…then it is likely to be left on my worktable. I like to make pieces that inspire.”
Eloise Cotton
As a San Francisco Bay Area based artist, Eloise Cotton began her glassmaking career in the 1970s while earning her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from California State University, Chico. She followed up her degree with further studies at the Pilchuck Glass School and later went on to complete works at Correia Art Glass and California State University, Northridge. It was a job demonstrating furnace glassblowing at Magic Mountain Theme Park that finally inspired Eloise to take up flame working. "Contrasting the perceived fragility of glass with the strength of steel is my metaphor for womanhood. My sculptural designs represent my fascination with the idea of capturing the natural fluidity of hot glass in a permanent form.”
Delphinium Designs
Some of the cutest, well-designed jewelry we’ve seen in Colorado—with prices that can’t be beat!
Ceci Cela
Sisters Lori Henson and Terri Johnson produce wonderful jewelry and decorative items from their company, Ceci Cela (“this and that” in French). “We’ve been in business about thirteen years” Henson says. Indeed, Ceci Cela is a small operation with Lori, who produces the art; Terri, who handles business functions; and their father, Jim Henson, who, as the metalworker, “has been sitting here soldering for all thirteen years,” Lori jokes.
Cindy Weller
Cindy Weller makes a broad range of uniquely designed and stylish wear that emphasizes floral and natural designs that are as elegant as they are intricate. She developed her passion for pottery at a young age watching her mother create china dolls. In college she studied different forms of sculpture from wood to ceramic to painting and photography, taking from each medium a desire to push the limits of the craft.
Erica Zap
Jewelry designer Erica Zap has been surrounded by art and craft all her life. Her parents owned an international handcraft shop that sold crafts and art collected from their extensive travels around the world. Erica's early exposure to exotic art and culture has greatly influenced her designs. "My goal is to design a contemporary look which exposes beauty through the simplicity of form. My jewelry reflects the integration of past and present cultures. I use metals, stones, textures, shapes and color to create precious pieces that are as individual as the women who wear them."
